QuestionHi there. Thanks for all your help in the past. My question now is that I have two venus flytraps and I am wondering what these new flowers are. They come from quick-growing, very tall stems. The flowers are delicate, white and have five petals. Is this normal? These are small plants and in a very short time one of these flowers has grown over a foot tall.
AnswerHi Don,
All plants produce flowers, and flytraps are no exception. Your description of the flower fits the description for flytrap flowers. This is completely normal.
Make sure that your flytraps are outdoors growing in full sun. Flower production is fairly energy intensive for flytraps, and they get their energy from sunlight. If they are grown in anything less than full sun and allowed to flower, they will weaken and won't reach their full potential in size for the season.
