QuestionI have a north window that I'd like to put an indoor CP in but I'm not sure which. I was thinking a Mexican Butterwort, but if there is any another that would do better? Thanx!

AnswerHi Zack,
We normally don't recommend using a north window, but we have experimented with growing carnivorous plants in such a window. The plants that still produced decent growth were Mexican butterworts (Pinguicula moranensis) and lance leaf sundews (Drosera adelae). I wouldn't say it was optimal growth, but it was decent enough to safely say that these plants won't die in a north window.
If you grow these plants in a north window, make sure it's a fairly large one that allows ample ambient light. Small north windows may not allow sufficient light for adequate growth.
In short, you'll simply have to experiment. Microclimates vary from home to home, so you won't know if it'll grow well there unless you try it. If you don't get the type of growth you were hoping for within a month or so, move the plant to a sunnier window, or supplement with a compact fluorescent bulb.
