Pygmy Sundews gemmae

Question
My Pygmy Sundews, sadly, dried out because I missed a watering day. They're not dead; In fact, I think they're fine. This was a month ago, but the dew is all dried out on the leaves. They have some Gemmae on the crowns. What should I do to grow them from gemmae? I haven't found much info on the matter. Should I get a new pot and transfer pieces of the gemmae onto the new soil somehow?

Answer
Hi Jonathan,

The gemmae are very easy to plant.  You'll know when the gemmae are ripe when you gently tap them and the fall off the crown.  Collect them and place them on fresh soil of 1 part peat moss and 1 part perlite (or silica sand).  Don't cover them.  Just press them firmly into the soil.  Keep the pot in a very sunny and warm location.  Within a matter of 2-3 weeks, you will see tiny sundews sprouting from the gemmae.

The second edition of our ebook will have illustrations on how to reproduce pygmy sundews from gemmae.  We hope to have the second edition available by July.

Good growing!
