QuestionHi, I have a N. ventrata that is no starting to send up a climbing vine, and after seeing some pictures of N. ventrata online I know how big they can get. So I was wondering if there was a type of tree that can be planted in the same soil as a nepenthes. I know you can use sticks or a lattice but I thought it a cool thing to try.
AnswerHi Jared,
Sorry for taking a bit to get back to you.
You may need to go about this from the opposite direction, meaning having a potted tree that the Nepenthes can tolerate it's soil. Ventrata is quite a tolerant variety, so any potting mix that is very well draining and not too overloaded with nutrients could work. My first recommendation would be the common ficus you see for sale in houseplant areas in garden centers would be a good candidate. You would just need to have a big enough pot to acommodate both plants. I can't think of many other trees that adapt well to household conditions.
Good Growing!
