red/green baby adalae sundew

Question
Hi, I have many sundews growing and multiplying nicely and producing a lot of dew.  I grow all of them in the SAME pot.  BUT I noticed that some of the 3 weeks old baby sundews are strictly red and others are strictly green.  There is no between.  I read on one of your pages that bright light turns them red.  If that was the case, all my plants should be the same color.  Any ideas come to mind?  I would like all my sundews red if possible hahaha. Thanks

Answer
Hi Matt,

Drosera adelae shows a great deal of variability as they grow and produce different leaves.  I've often had people see plants that were different ages and think they were entirely different plants.  Some of the color difference is age, some is just how much light that individual plantlet is getting.  As plants age they tend to produce more dark leaves and red.

Good Growing!
