If the plant is unlabeled, you really can't tell.  It's an unregistered plant, meaning that an official description was never submitted to the International Carnivorous Plant Society.

Frankly, I don't think the big mouth flytrap is significantly different than a typical flytrap.  I've seen typical flytraps produce large traps (1.5 inches) with age and with optimal growing conditions.  

One nursery owner unwittingly admitted to me that when he receives an order for a big mouth flytrap, he simply selects the largest flytrap in stock.  So I imagine the majority of the big mouth variety that is floating around out there are from the same genetic strain.

For this reason, we have never sold the giant forms.  Even the giant forms will revert back to typical appearances if they are grown in suboptimal conditions.  Conversely, typical flytraps are capable of producing very large traps in time and in optimal conditions.
