QuestionI purchased my first plants from you in September and they are doing just fine outside. I live in Augusta Georgia in Zone 8. My question is will it be a good idea for me to wait until spring to order a Sarracenia leucophylla.
AnswerHi Steve,
It depends on your experience with Sarracenia. If you are relatively new, you might do best waiting until spring so you don't need to deal with winter dormancy. If you are experienced with Sarracenia and the concept of winter dormancy, you can order your plant now.
However, when we experience our first frost, plants don't look as good as they do in summer, so we take them offline and hold them until next year. So if you were planning to get your plant from us, you'll have to wait until spring anyway. Otherwise, if you had another nursery in mind, you can certainly purchase it now. Just make sure the grower was growing the plant outdoors rather than in a sheltered greenhouse. That way, you will know that the plant is acclimated for outdoor growing and you can simply place it outside.
