QuestionI have three plants that are growing good but something is
eating on the leaves. I bought insecticide spray and use it Ortho Max 100 plus. However, they keep eating. What do you suggest I put on them. I live in Jax. Fl.
Thank you, Wanda
AnswerHi Wanda,
If you can see actual chew marks on the leaves, you might have an issue with slugs or snails. They're not affected by insecticides, so you'll need to use slug and snail bait instead.
Apply the product around the outsides of your water trays. Avoid getting slug bait in the water and soil because it contains high amounts of metals. If you have pets, use Sluggo, which is safe to use around pets.
Also check around the leaves and base of the plant to locate any hiding slugs.
If the issue continues after using slug bait, write back with more description of what the chew marks look like and exactly which part of the leaves, and whether it is the new growth or old growth being eaten.
Good growing!
