Cedar of Lebanon

Question
We own a house with a Cedar of Lebanon in the front garden. It is about 30m in height, 8 meters circumference and 2.4m diameter (it's huge !). We are trying to find out the "Spread" of the roots. ie how far they stretch from the trunk. I would appreciate any advice you can provide in this respect.
Kind regards

Answer
Generally the root system of trees like cedars extend out about 1 1/2 times the width of the limb overhang. Most of the roots will be within the area of the overhang of the limbs and the trunk. This width will depend on the soil type and the moisture. Sandier soils will have more width than clay soils. The further you go from the trunk the smaller the roots will get and these smaller roots can be cut without damaging the tree.
