brandon cedar tree

Question
I bought two brandon cedars this spring and planted them on east-facing side of my house.  The one has done very well while the other continues to turn pale, and looks a little yellow and droopy from the bottom up to the half way section, while the top portion looks fine.  Any idea on what may be going on?  Will it live or should i replace it now so both trees will look similar next year?

Answer
Fertilize in the spring and again in the Fall.  Starting 6 inches away from the base of the plant, scatter the fertilizer evenly all the way out to the "drip line" -- the outside perimeter where water might drip down from the plant's leaves. Water it in good. A fertilizer called hollytone evergreen fertilizer(espoma brand) will work well with cedar. I would use about 1 cup. Check with your local nursery for this fertilizer.
