QuestionWe have a cedar tree approx. 10 - 12 " in diameter that has a very good lean towards a structure. Approx. how deep does the root structure for a cedar tree usually go? We are thinking that it should be removed if the root structure is shallow. Thanks for any info you can provide.
AnswerThe roots are within the first couple of feet of soil and are the most part fibrous and should not be a problem to structures. The trees that are a problem have large roots and these usually grow near the ground surface thereby pushing the soil and structures up. Cedars do not have a history of giving any root problems.
