I am thinking about planting a row of pencil pines beside an inground swimming pool. Will the root impact on the structure of the pool?

This (Athrotaxis cupressoides) can be a very large tree and there are reports of problems with the root system. I would not plant this species. It is also a fire hazard due to the resins in the needles will burn easily. I would check with your local nursery for a more suitable tree or even a shrub.
