QuestionQUESTION: Hi, Jim. I抦 thinking of ordering some seeds from eBay. I would like to hear your opinion if the seeds of Cupressus sempervirens and Picea pungens can be successfully germinated in tropical country like Malaysia? Thanks and have a nice day.
ANSWER: Yes but the germination rate maybe low for these seeds. So do not expect a new plant for every seed you plant. If you get 50-75% you will be lucky.

QUESTION: Thanks for your quick reply, Jim. I may want to try my luck later after gathering more information. Picea pungens is a cold-loving conifer. Do you think it will survive here after germination? Is there any special cultural tips you can recomend?
AnswerI think it will germinate and you may grow it for a time if you keep it watered but the higher temperatures as it gets older will do it in. I have seen them in Southern Florida as fairly large trees. Micro climates are strange. All I could say is try it what have you got to lose except time. I would try it in a semi shade area to try and cut down on the heat from direct sun.
