QuestionI live in Wisconsin and just bought 12 American Arborvieta's in 1 gallon containers. How should I keep them until spring planting time? Should I put them in the house in front of a window? I am concerned as in the pots the roots will freeze, correct?
AnswerThese need to be kept from freezing but not in the heat of the house. A garage with a window that is cool but not below 32 degrees would be great. A porch that is closed in would be the next best thing. Make sure you water them at least once a week--the roots are still growing. Keep the soil damp but not wet. In the spring dig the holes fro the plants twice the size of the root ball and as deep--fill with good potting soil and mulch around the trees with not more than 3 inches of mulch and water.o
