QuestionI need to know about the root system of the italian cypress to find out if planting it anywhere near the leach lines of the septic system will be a problem.
I have reviewed the answer to every question I could find about this on several websites and have not found an answer.
AnswerMost trees have problems with sewer lines. The foliage of Italian cypress extend about 10-15 feet from the trunk the roots on will extend about twice this area. So if they are kept about 20-30 feet from the lines you will not have a problem. Italian cypress root system is pretty aggressive as most are and will seek water.
