QuestionSo i have 4 cilantro plants and a in a week or so, i will repot them. right now they are in a very small pot (a little less than a finger in diameter), and it will get very crowded soon. so i'm asking about, when i repot them, how far away they should be from each other, etc. how much space will a cilantro plant need as a radius? Also, should it get full sun, or just be in a bright place, and what could cause it to bolt, and how would you prevent it from happening? Where i live, the summers are very hot. nowadays, the temperature is around 87-99 (F, high and and an average of 65 - 73 F, low). Thank you so much for taking the time to answer these questions.
AnswerSelena:
Cilantro is a special herb for growing. It needs morning sun and filter sun the rest of the day. 2 ft. diameter for each plant will do. The high heat is what causes it to bolt. It must be outdoors and watered sparingly. Feed it with liquid fish or liquid fish/seaweed fertilizer every 3 weeks. Home depot carry the liquid fish. Cost about 8.00. 1 tablespoon to 1 gallon of water. Feed all your herbs with this. Cilantro seed must be sown every 3 weeks to have fresh cilantro thru out the summer. Sow seeds in filter sun light. Be sure to break loose the bottom of the root ball before you plant them. Good luck
