QuestionI made a slow cooker split pea soup out of: split peas, baked potatoes, kale and leeks. It's an anti-heartburn version of another recipe. It's bland, the strongest flavor being the kale. Besides using a lot less kale, is there an herb or seasoning that I can add that will pick up this dish or balance the kale? I am avoiding mints, pepper and hot spices for health reasons (heartburn).
AnswerA little sour cream or creme fraiche, stirred in at serving time might be nice. You might also try parsley. I like mustard with kale more than anything else, but that might be too spicy for you. I would think the peas and potatoes would tame the taste of the kale, no?
