QuestionHi, Mr. Wilton,
I've been growing basil for a few months and the herb was growing plenty of
leaves during the first month. However, the stems grew longer and have
turned woody and now there are significantly less leaves growing. I've tried
cutting the flowers off from last week to see if that helps, but any suggestions
on how I can get lots of leaves again?
AnswerSean:
I am sorry to say that the basil is about to give up it's life. Once the sun & heat starts to disappear, the basil will start with long woody stems and become a slightly bitter. You can keep cutting the leaves as far as the weather allows.
