QuestionI bought a small, young Lemon Verbena (grown from a cutting) 2 weeks ago. I immediately potted it up into a stone container with a Mint and a Chamomile plant, in special 'container' compost, purchased from a garden centre. The Verbena and the Mint have started to develop brown spots on the underside and then on the top of the leaves - the spots are rust brown coloured and slightly powdery, affecting the verbena the most. I have another verbena plant in my greenhouse, and that one is unaffected. The container is situated on my south facing patio, is sheltered and I have been watering fairly sparingly. What might the problem be, and how can I cure it?
AnswerRebecca:
The powdery should be powdery mildew. The brown spots could be watering schedule, which may too much or not enough of ventilation. The mint must be alone because it will take over all the space & choke anything in it's way. Go to web site "gardens alive" and they have organic pesticides for the powdery mildew.
