QuestionI live in an apartment and i thought i would be nice to get a little window type box for my balcony and grow a few herbs that i always use in it. Well my Basil and my parsley look GREAT but my thyme plant looks like its on its last leg. I dont water it as often as the others because i was told watering it too often was bad and they are all in full sun which i was told they all needed ... i live in Texas where right now the weather is in the low to mid 90s and have been trying to keep an eye on them because i dont know how well they do in heat. I dont know what i am doing wrong with my poor thyme plant. Any suggestions on how i can bring it perk it back up?
AnswerDawn:
It sounds like you are doing everything well. It could be the 90 degree heat or not enough drainage. It likes good drainage soil. If it holds the water for too long, it will show signs of stress. Feed with liquid fish fertilizer every 3 weeks & prune from the top down 1/3 on each branch every 3 weeks after the first time you do this. If you get any rain during the week, do not give it any water.
Good luck!Home depot& lowe's are start carrying the fertilizer.
