QuestionHi. I grow misc. grasses indoor for my cats and birds to eat. It is usually sold on the market as "cat grass." What it is exactly, I am not sure.
Anyway, I dont really like buying catgrass kits over and over.. and I was wondering, how can I harvest seeds from the grass so I can replant it?
If it means anything, I plant the seeds, water daily, they sprout in about a week, and about a week later are at least 5 inches high.
I do not know much about harvesting seeds of any kind, so any help is appreciated.
Thanks!!
Kayla
AnswerKayla:
I never had the desire to grow catgrass. I have only heard of it. You may try to harvest some seeds & place in paper bag to dry, place in airy place, shake bag weeky to be sure moisture is gone. To extend your season, try cutting 1/3 of grass at a time & feed an organic fertilizer, like seamix, combination seaweed & fish fertilizer. It may attract cats, cover with plastic netting.
