Herb expiration

Question
Hi,

I have a LARGE assorted collection of herbs that I ordered from Ebay.
Chamomile, basil, rosemary, sage and many other assortments. I use these
herbs for my hair care products, as I don't use commercial shampoo, and I
use these herbs for a more "natural" way to cleanse my hair. Because of this, I
have stocked up on MANY herbs, and I didn't even think about the herbs'
expiration date at the time I bought the herbs. They cost me a lot of money,
and I think it would be a shame if they did eventually go bad. Could you
educate me a little bit regarding the expiration dates of the herbs? Do they
last a long time?

Also, in the future when I want to purchase more herbs, I think it would really
help me out if I knew a shop around me that held the herbs, instead of
having to dig through ebay and have to pay for the shipping prices as well.
Are there such things as herb "stores" that I could go to in the future to order
at my convenience? I also order essential oils like rosemary oil, peppermint
oil, etc. and that would really help me out if you could sort of point me not
necessarily to a specific store, but just the right "method" of finding a store.
Do you think they hold these herbs at acupuncture places?

Thank you for your help, I sincerely appreciate it!

Answer
Andrew:
You can search web site for local herb shops. Good shops can give you some info on how long some dried herbs last. There are also herb growing books that normally have a drying herbs section in them. The herb shops are your best places or herb growers that supply home grown herbs and sell them to the public.
