Questioni have a rosemary that is twelve years old now and was quite massive in its 30 gallon container until my daughter went to town with miracle grow.it dropped lots of leaves and died in several spots. i flushed the pot vigorously for three days and cut it back.now 2 months later there is no recovery, some leaves are bright red, and have a very crackly texture.my baby didn't even flower for me this year, first time ever.however there is alot of new little growth on the tips but it is very needle like and not soft like new growth,i water only when needed as it rains quite often here in Louisiana. can you help
AnswerChip:
You are right to hold the water, mother nature will do that.It is hard to say about rosemary's recovery. It is finicky when it gets stress with that miracle gro. You can cut back all the dead growth by 1/3 on each branch now and wait until spring to look for more new growth and cut back 1/3 again. Try organic fertilizer liquid fish found now at home depot/lowe's. Feed every 3 weeks. during the spring. If all fails start a new rosemary in the same pot with new soil. Want to be sure no miracle gro is left there.
