growing basil, mint and oregano from seeds

Question
I am attempting to grow basil mint and oregano from seeds.  I planted them in clay pots last Monday -- over a week and a half ago.  They sit on my window sill which gets beautiful exposure.

My plants haven't sprouted yet.  I've been keeping the soil wet as directed.  How long until I see some growth?  I'm very excited!!

Answer
Katie: Basil is best started in sterile soil with no fertilizer. Seeds must be placed on top of soil and pressed in. Soak with spray bottle about every 3 days. Don't let them get water logged. The must have early morning sun all day. They should sprout within 2 weeks. Give them bottom heat if you can. They will sprout faster. The mint seeds are not so good in sprouting, long wait. Oregano is a little better, again within 2 weeks. Don't over water either. Allow to dry between watering. Once they sprout use an organic fertilizer, such as liquid fish fertilizer from home depot's. Spray leaves and soil every 3 weeks. Lightly cover oregano & mint seeds with about 1/8 of soil.

Good luck!!
