QuestionHi, Leroy.
I've planted both dill and cilantro for the first time this year. Could you please tell me the proper way to maintian and harvest them? When I take the leaves from the dill, how much of the leaves should I leave on the plant? Also, what is the procedure for harvesting the seeds?
Thank you very much!
AnswerSarah:
The cilantro wants to go to seed as soon as 80 degree temps arrive. To have a daily harvest, you must sow seeds about every 3 weeks. To get more leaves, prune out the flowers., Harvest the outside leaves only. Do not touch the center crown.
Dill will also go to seed when the temps arrive. Harvest small amount of leaves as needed. For saving seed on both plants, allow seeds to dry on plant and place in paper bag for final drying and then store in glass containers.
