Yellow herbs

Question
I'm a novice gardener. In the past I've grown tomatoes and herbs and had pretty good luck with them. This year, the herbs are really doing poorly. I live in WI and planted cilantro and curley parsley outside in long box planters in mid June. The planters are wood and about 6-10 in tallx 3ft long. They are drained with gravel and holes and loaded with new soil. The plants were purchased from the same nursery as last year and were 3-6" tall. Though watered regularly and in full sun,the parsley seems stunted. It hasn't grown at all and the older leaves have turned yellow. The cilantro has turned yellow green all over and some of the leaves are tinged with brownish red. It seems to be going to seed already since I've had to cut the flowers off. Both plants did very well for me last year in the same location. The new herb this year was dill, which I planted in the main garden. It's bottom leaves are yellow too!How do you know if you are watering too much or not enough? Is it something else?

Answer
Michele:
It may be the feeding of the plants. Try liquid fish fertilizer. It is sold at home depot & lowe's. It is good for all plants, especially bringing them back to life organically.
They must have morning sun first and light shade in the evening. Let nature rain on them. If it rains once week, that's enough. They should have been planted in April. They like it sunny & cool. Once they start to seed and the temps are in the 80's, they are about to finish. Sow more cilantro seeds, but keep the old growth cut from the parsley and fertilize every 3 weeks. Good luck!
