excessive sweating/circulation problems....

Question
Hi David, thanks for listening.  Its turned out to be a long "question", but i felt i should tell you what i know/feel.

Ive had palmar hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating of palms; i learned it had a name..) for a few years i guess.  It destroyed my junior year in college, and i had to leave for a semester.  During that summer, i had botox injections in my hands; which is the most effective therapy for excessive sweating.  It did well and i kept my mind off of it for about 15 months, and now it is back.  With summer here its even worse, and i dont think my new insurance will cover botox again.  So ive been searching out other answers.

Mostly ive been looking into the source of my problem, which i believe is poor or otherwise abnormal circulation.  There are other clues to this too: sweat easily during activity or embarassment, etc., sweat on forehead when i eat sour foods (?? called gustatory sweating i believe, but weird), my face stays red more than usual after athletic activity (this became apparent in high school...), wet socks after an hour in shoes, and finally and most dibilitating my hands.  I can be doing nothing, and its a normal temperature, and i will look down and see rivers of sweat on my hands.  Nevermind other times when i am stressed, or in hot weather doing ANYTHING... My hands and feet can be freezing too when the rest is warm.  Basically my extremeties are not regulating temperature.

Im sorry to spill like this.  Its been a while since ive thought about how much it is destroying me.

Anything way you can help me would be appreciated.  Ive heard that herbs like ginseng can help with poor circulation, but thats about all i know.

thanks.

Answer
Ethan, while I do not have any experience or knowledge of the hyperhydrosis, there are many herbs and other supplements that can help with the circulatory problem.  It is important to know waht is causing the poor circulation in general.  Is it high cholesterol, a weak heart muscle, low oxygen level in the blood, etc?   I will give a few suggestions for improvement of circulation.  Please consult your doctor or pharmacist for possible interractions and advice concerning the supplements and the physical challenges you have.  L-carnitine is purported to strengthen the heart muscle and to promote circulation(ask your doctor for possible side effects).  I want you to be extremely careful in light of your current difficulty.  Vitamin B complex(B-50 or B-100) 2 or 3 times a day with meals.  A multi-enzyme complex(there are many brands) may aid digestion and circulation and enhance oxygen use in all body tissues.  Dimethylglycine(DMG) may help tissue oxygenation 50mg twice daily.  I use the sublingual tablet dissolved under the tongue.  Herbs that may help are ginkgo biloba and black cohosh(may slow your heart rate) and cayenne known as capsicum(may increase your heart rate).  I encourage you to research these supplements and make a careful choice as to which you may want to use.  There are others.  Please follow-up and let me know more information as to the cause of the poor circulation.  I am not a physician.  I am an individual who has primarily used supplements to enhance my own health and have helped others as well.  I cannot prescribe for your condition.  Please use caution and I will try to help in any way I can.
