rosacea

Question
hi mr. carney!  i have posterior blepharitis, and today went back to the eye dr. her diagnosis is ocular rosacea, so of course i got home and need to get with blue cross about a dermatologist. so, after doing a google search on what herbs, etc., to take for this (its just around the eyes) all i can find is a bunch of sales pitches. so, with this condition, what would you recommend i take for it; whether in pill or topical form? thank you!

Answer
James, unfortunately I'm not sure any natural or herbal supplement would give you quick relief, but it may be worthwhile to try some very important nutrients internally.  Primrose oil, vitamin B complex (B-100) 3 times a day, with extra B2 and B12, vitamin A.  These will help support your system and wont hurt you.  If you feel like taking less of the B-100, just take what you are comfortable with.  Also,if you have any medical conditions or are taking medication of any kind you should ask your doctor or pharmacist .  If the problem is on your skin (you mentioned the eye dr), you might try applying pure aloe vera to the skin(not near the eyes), but if irritation develops discontinue.  Herbs you might find helpful are sasparilla, dandelion, burdock root, marshmallow root, ginger, milk thistle to aid the liver in cleansing the blood, nettle  improves skin tone.  Of course dont use all of these, but you may want to look them up on the internet or get an herb book to reasearch them first if you like.  There are others.  Eat a diet that emphasizes raw vegetables and grains; avoid fats, especially saturated. Use a mild natural soap and cool or lukewarm water, never cold or hot.  Let me know if you have more questions.  I hope this helps you.
