It is called the ginseng of ayurvedic medicine. It is spelled"ashwaghandha" (withania somnifera).I have only grown it once here in Maryland and it does not like this climate. my book give this info on it: Internallyfor debility,convalescence,nervous exhaustion,insomnia,geriatric complaints,wasting diseases,impotence,infertility,joint and nerve pains and multiplesclerosis. Usually given as milk decoction with raw sugar or honey.Go to google search engine and type in Withania somnifera or ashwagandha and find more updated info on it.
