Postpartum Herbs


Question
My daughter will be having her second child soon.  The big hormonal swing after the birth of her first child left her prone to migraines and a bit nervous/anxious. It was weird because these feelings occurred around 9pm each evening from 2-5 or 6 weeks after the birth.  She did NOT develop postpartum depression.  Is there an essential oil recipe you might recommend to keep the above issues at bay this time around?  Thank you.

Essential oils? do you mean to use internally or externally?  I don't recommend the use of essential oils internally because they are too strong, even diluted, for the liver to process out properly and can result in toxicity.  Herbally I could share with you what I tell my midwifery clients to take :)  Alfalfa capsules, red raspberry leaf capsules or tea, motherwort tea taken during that time each evening that the problem occurs.  These have worked very well for my clients in the ten plus years I've been a midwife :)
