Is it okay to use gugulipid while breastfeeding a one year old? I heard this herb can be used to help in weight loss. I have also heard that fennel may be used for weight loss. Which one is better and safer?  Thank you for your time. Sandra Clary

Dear Sandra,

I would not recommend that you take anything that is not absolutely necessary while breastfeeding.  You should wait until the breastfeeding is complete to address weight issues.  Gugulipid is effective in lowering cholesterol.  Its weight reducing action has not been proven.  You would be better off using a Dandelion extract for this purpose after you have completed the breastfeeding.  This extract is available from my website at http://www.grannyherb.com/
