QuestionI purchased a plant today. The only name given was a common name: Toothache Plant. No scientific name given; however, the grower stated that the leaves, when put inside your gum area relieved toothache pain. It had light green shiny leaves and the flowers were more light a textered bud shape, the size of a green olive, which were yellow then orange at the tips. If given an email address I could email you a digital picture. Thanks.

The plant has been used as a local anesthetic for gums and teeth. It has also many other properties as anti septic.
Short spreading plant with toothed leaves and cute gold gumball-like inflorescence. Chewing on the leaves numbs the mouth. It has been used for toothaches.
From the description that you gave of the flower, it is probably the latter.
