Question
I have a Moses in the boat plant.  It is about a year old.  I need to separate the plant, but my question is:  Once the blooms are done in the boat, do I pick out the old blooms that have dried up, do I pull off the boats, or do I do something else with the old blooms so they will get new blooms on them?

Hi Peg,

Rhoeo flowers can be left on the plant after they have died without harm to the plant. However, they tend to look unattractive so most people remove the spent flowers once they turn brown and dry. Either way, it will not affect development of new flowers.

Dividing the plant, however, may disrupt the flowering cycle. You didn't indicate why you are dividing your plant. If your plant looks too crowded, pruning may be a better solution. If you want to propagate more plants, taking stem cuttings may be a better alternative.
