QuestionI was thinking this fall I might like to pick up leaves that fall or pick some off of trees at earlier stages of color change and press them in a book assuming people still do that? Is there anything I would need to know as far as preserving the leaves and how long I can expect they will last, and where to find books for collecting them?
AnswerJames,
Leaf collections can last forever if done properly. The library will have books on identifying trees or a good used book store. Many colleges and some cemetaries and parks have all their trees labeled making collecting leaves very easy.
Click on this link and you will find several websites discussing how best to press and preserve the leaves: https://www.google.com/#sclient=psy-ab&hl=en&site=&source=hp&q=collecting+and+pressing+leaves&oq=collecting+and+pressing+l&gs_l=hp.1.0.0i30j0i8i30.3397664.3412882.0.3417129.27.19.0.8.8.0.646.4368.0j13j4j0j1j1.19.0.les%3B..0.0...1c.1.JsZCQ9WTL-c&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=2e1b235fa26afe4b&biw=1140&bih=432
I usually answer questions about the care of houseplants. I hope that helps you. Good luck!
