QuestionHI!
MY NAME IS JULIA.
I HAVE A BEAUTIFUL MONSTERA IN OUR YARD. I WANT TO PLANT IT TO THE POT, BECAUSE IF WE'LL MOVE OUT ( WE RENT THIS HOUSE), THE OWNER WILL CUT DOWN ALL TREES AND BUSHES.
THE ROOTS AR SO LONG, ABOUT 2 METERS AND MORE. IF I WILL TAKE OUT THE PLANT AND ROOTS WILL ACCIDENTLY BE CUT OF OR WILL BE DAMAGED, WILL THE PLANT SURVIVE?
SHOULD I WAIT BEFORE PLANTING IT TO THE POT , SO DAMAGED ROOTS WILL BE DRY?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!
AnswerHi Julia,
Transplanting a plant from the ground to a pot is not something that can be done easily and is best left to a professional landscaper who can properly assess the root system and the soil quality of your particular Monstera. Cutting some of the roots is inevitable and is not a problem if it is done properly. Most of the soil in direct contact with roots should stay that way - do not remove all of the soil. It should be potted right away and not allowed to dry over night.
But if you really care about this plant, I suggest you get professional help with it.
