QuestionI have a china doll plant it's out side next to a window planter box in the ground. It's past our double story roof. Does this plant have large roots, to damage our home foundation or reck any thing? Please help me . Hubby cut it down to its bottom leaving just its stems . It's thriving and growth just expanded like nothing you have never seen. I live in melb and I bearly water it but it loves were it is. Really don't want to kill this plant. But I need some advice with the roots, CANNT have damage in my home either. Thank you dearly Zacky sevastopoulos. Xxxxxx
AnswerDear Zacky,
I live in northern Indiana in the US where we freeze in the winter. China Dolls cannot stand freezing temperatures so I did not know the answer to your question. I did some research and the first few answers I found said no it was not invasive but then I found a video on You-tube that they claim is digging the roots of a China Doll out from under the kitchen of a house in Florida. Here is a link to that video so you can take a look at it yourself:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=em16wyqMXoI
Take a look at the comments under the video. At least one of them is from Australia. The tree is over 8 meters from the house. I can only give you the information I found. You will have to make this decision. Good luck!
