Questionhey i have an ivy plant and i would like to know what medium light location mean.....and if you know anything about ivy plants can you tell me some i just got it and its not a poison ivy one.
AnswerHi Sophia,
There are two very different plants Hedera Ivy and Pothos) that are often called Ivy and I don't know which you have. If you were told it needs medium light, then it is probably a Hedera Ivy. If I am wrong, disregard my answer below and let me know.
Medium light means light that you get very close to a north or east window and back a few feet or to the side of a west or south window. However, the window must be completely uncovered throughout the daylight hours. Artificial light is not much help with Hedera ivies.
Other things you should know: do not repot your new plant; allow the top half-inch of soil to dry in between waterings; fertilize sparingly only a few times per year; and watch out for spider mites.
I have written an article on Hedera Ivy care that I will email for free to you (or anyone else) who emails a request to me at
[email protected].
Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
