Dead and Fungus?

Question
The dead and fungi
The dead and fungi
I got this as a small, lily. It was given to me at our local food bank, and was donated by Trader Joe's. It lived healthily in my bay window for about 2 months. I felt it was time to give it a bigger pot. So I did. And then put it outside. I watered it every other day and then it went from a lush green with a budding flower to a brown then yellow. I brought it in suspecting the weather outside the culprit. Then the leaves began to fall off. And it turned a pale yellow. Now of course it is in my opinion dead. And this fungi is growing. Any idea what may have happened? And what is this fungus? Did it kill my plant?

Answer
Angelique,

I do not see any fungus, just a bunch of dead leaves. Most lilies are bulb plants and do not need repotted. They are better off in small pots. Watering every other day probably rotted the bulb. If you are very lucky you can dig down at the base of the stem and find the bulb. If it is black and mushy throw it all out, if it is still firm and healthy it just went dormant. Repot it back into the smaller pot and put it into a brown paper bag spray some Lysol spray into the bag, clip it shut then set it in a cool dark closet or a corner or cabinet in the garage. Once a month give it 1/4th cup of water (no more) and spray some Lysol into the bag, clip it shut and put it back in the closet. When you check it and see signs of growth set it back out in the sun. I hope you find a healthy bulb. Good luck!
