Question
avocado.roots
I'm growing an avocado from the pit. I put the pit in a glass of water and when the roots started to come out they got covered in little white shiny bumps that look like "bubbles" (I attached a picture).
My first plant didn't have them... This one did from the start. But a few days ago they spread to the newest plant in the next glass and that's when I thought it might be a parasite or some sort of disease. What is it and what can I do about it?
Thank you.
AnswerHi Lily,
Those are nodules. They are not parasitic nor a disease. I do not know why they form on some roots but not on others, although I do suspect it may be related to water quality. But I do know they are harmless and can be ignored.
It looks like you have enough root development to go ahead and transfer your Avocado to a small pot filled with a peat-based potting mix. Rinse the roots gently with clear water before moving it into soil.
