QuestionHi,
I've just received a pot with 3 stems of Asiatic lilies - very beautiful orange buds - not yet opened.
I wanted to re-plant these stems into 2 huge decorative pots that I already possess. My question is - should I do it now - its early spring in Toronto - where I live. Or should I just wait - until the plant has bloomed and is ready to hibernate - late summer - maybe Aug- Sept.
If I can re-plant right away - is there anything I ought to watch out for? And if you suggest waiting until late summer/early fall how should I care for this plant indoors?
Thanks
Farah
AnswerFarah,
If you plant them now they may drop those beautiful buds but you do not have to wait until they go dormant. As soon as they are done blooming go ahead and plant them. Put them in a full sun location and fertilize them at least 3 times during the summer with a blooming plant fertilizer. It is the sun and the fertilizer that will feed the bulbs so they grow larger and even more flowers next year. Good luck!
