Question
Unknown Leo
Hi Will,
I am including a picture of my unknown plant. I've had this plant for a very long time ( maybe it's an offspring of the original, I couldn't say, since I have several others). The plant flowered about 20 years ago. The flower has a very strong smell mostly at the end of the day. Its characteristics seem to be somewhat like a Dracaena fragans, but for me the leaves are different. Could you help me identify it ?
Thank you so much,
Nancy
AnswerHi Nancy,
Your plant is a Pleomele thalioides. It is in the same family as Dracaena, is sometimes called a "Lance Dracaena," but is not actually a Dracaena species. As such, it does share some common characteristics with Dracaenas, as you have correctly observed.
Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
