QuestionWhat is a good indoor houseplant that doesn't need a lot of light? I keep buying plants but they seem to like it better outside on my balcony! I want a fairly good size indoor plant but only have a sliding glass door for light. Can you suggest anything for this?

Actually most indoor tropical plants do not want direct sun light ( burns the foliage ), but rather prefer a bright room...In FLORIDA most growers grow their indoor plants outside under shade cloth...If your porch gets shade this may be why they do so well there...
You need to get to a local garden center ( not a chain store ) and ask them to recommend some of the plants they sell for indoor use...Many are easy to maintain...Ask them which are easiest?..There are loads available like Arborcolas, Crotons, Ficus, Philodendrons, Scheffleras, Etc. )...
Usually most plants die from improper watering technique...Plants inside need to be watered less frequently than plants outside...Water your plants in the following manner for greater success...
Check how much the plant weighs when thoroughly watered VS its' weight when it is ready to be watered again. Sometimes it helps to put a saucer under the pot and let the plant sit in water for 10-15 minutes. Pick the pot up (or lean it if it a large pot) and feel how heavy it is after watering it thoroughly. Don't water it again until it feels considerably lighter and the top of the soil is light in color. Depending on plant types, sunlight exposure and pot size plants will need water at many different rates (1-3 times a day to once a month or more)...
Plants are not hard to take care of as long as you do what is needed for them when it is needed...
Hope this helps...
