Changing colour of Dracaenas

Question
At my office i have a Dracaena plant. It is in a pot with a diameter of about 5 inches and it about a foot and a half tall. I am wondering if its possible to change the colour of the plant to blue or purple by adding food colouring or something along those lines.

Please let me know if this will work or if it will kill the plant.

Thanks.

Answer
Hi Adam,

Foot coloring is sometimes used to change the color of white or light colored cut flowers, such as Carnations and Phaleonopsis Orchids, by placing the stems in water and food coloring. However, food coloring will not alter the color of any foliage plants.

Some Dracaena species do produce variegated leaves in a variety of colors, including red, pale green, cream, white and yellow. However, these are hybrids or cultivars that have been bred for these variations and grow that way naturally. The colors do not come from artificial substances.

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
