QuestionHello,Hope you are well!!
I have a pot of cuttings of R.cereuscula/coral cactus & rice cactus I believe are some names more common & easier to say !!
It's time to pot it up.The cuttings all have new growth and are growing and looking good.I can't seem to figure out what potting medium to use.I have read and been told a lot of things.Half african violet mix & half potting soil, orchid mix & a good potting soil and just half & half a good potting mix and peat and of course cactus mix.I don't care for cactus mix it seems to heavy to me,maybe it's the brand or just the bag I bought that one time.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANY ADVICE YOU CAN PROVIDE !!!!

AnswerJelinda,
Rhipsalis cereuscula are succulent plants and should be treated much like cactus, be kept in a sunny location and allowed to get nearly totally dry before watering. If they were mine I would mix 2 parts of a soft acidic soil like African Violet soil with 1 part play sand. Play sand is readily available at Lowes, Menards or Home Depot. Too much peat moss in the mix will hold too much water for too long and rot the young roots. All sand would be too heavy but sand definitely drains better. Never allow water to sit in the drain tray of this plant. Always empty it an hour after watering. Good luck!
