Drooping Plant

Question
DroopingPlant
DroopingPlant
Hi I have a plant - I am not certain what Type it is but I attached some images for review.

That is my first question - What Type of plant is this?
I believe I bought this plant in the spring and it was doing well until a few weeks ago. It was starting to droop and I read somewhere that, the plant needed a larger pot, so I repotted it. I don't recall the size of the pot and this one was only slightly bigger than the last. The status hasn't improved & The coloring of the leaves is fading that is the only real change I've seen since repotting. It has always been in my kitchen, with a south facing window. I live in MN and the weather has been cool to cold. My apartment is drafty and I thought the kitchen was best as it is warmer there with the direct light.

Answer
Trisha,

Your plant is a nepthitus or arrowhead plant. In the picture it looks too dry. It needs for the surface of the soil to get dry between waterings but it needs to be well watered probably about once a week. Give it enough water so that all the soil in the pot is wet and some goes in the drain tray. An hour later empty the drain tray so the plant is not sitting in water for days. It is not a swamp plant. When the surface of the soil is totally dry it is time to water again. The soil lower in the pot will have a little moisture. It doesn't like to get totally bone dry and that is what it looks like has happened. Remove the yellow leaves by cutting them off with sharp scissors. It does like to get some sun daily. It should sit in a window with the curtains or mini blinds open all day. Good luck!
