zizi plant

Question
I have a zizi plant and it is doing well (I guest), I've had it for two years now. My question is "how  or why do I get my leave to shine).

Answer
Hi Marilyn,

I am glad to hear that your ZZ Plant is doing well for you. The leaves of a ZZ Plant are naturally quite shiny so I am not quite sure why yours are not. Sometimes nurseries spray plants with pesticides and fertilizers that leave a whitish residue on the leaves. You can try wiping each leaf with a soft cloth. If that fails to remove the residue, use a mix of vinegar and water in equal portions.

If the natural shine is not shiny enough for you, try wiping the leaves with baby or mineral oil, but on the top surfaces only. Plants breathe through the pores (stomata) on the undersides of their leaves so you don't want to clog those pores with oil.

I have written an article on ZZ Plant care that I will email for free to you (or anyone else) who sends a request to me at [email protected].

Please let me know if any of this is unclear or if you have any additional questions.
