QuestionI have been given a beautiful orienta pepper plant. It has purple, yellow, orange and red peppers. Do I need to pick or prune any of the peppers for it to bloom more? If so, what color are the ripe peppers that need to be picked or removed? Thanks for ur help.
AnswerHi Tina,
I believe you have an Ornamental (not Oriental) Pepper Plant. There is no reason to remove any of the peppers of any color or at any stage. Yours is fully developed and requires nothing more than lots of sunlight and careful attention to watering. Also, do not repot it.
This plant is an annual, meaning that it produces lots of peppers for one season only and languishes thereafter. Most folks buy them in the spring and keep them around through the summer and early fall and dispose of them when they no longer look attractive.
So enjoy your colorful Pepper Plant for the next month or so.
