Somona Plant

Question
Hello, I recently purchased my somona plant from a literacy council rummage sale. I live in South Texas. I am debating wether to place my plant outside on my uncovered patio or keep it inside my garden tub where there is a good amount of light. I've only had it for a week and a half and watered it when I first brought it home, also added some miracle grow. The plant is blooming nicely and the leaves are dark green except for the bottom of each branch, a couple of the leaves are turning yellow and falling off. The plant was pretty leggy when I brought it home. Do the leaves typical turn yellow and fall out and should I keep it inside?

Answer
Hi Mina,

Ordinarily, Euphorbia 'sonoma' is grown outside in full sun. However, many nurseries grow them in pots for indoor use and acclimate them for less intense light. That yours is leggy and losing some lower leaves leads me to suspect that yours is adapted to lower light than the intense Texas summer sun. So I suggest that you keep it inside in a very sunny window, at least for now. In a month or so, you might move it outside to light shade for another month before moving it to direct outdoor sun. Of course, if it does well indoors, there is no reason to move it outside if you prefer to have it inside.
