Question
desert rose
Hi,
I have had this desert rose for about a year. I must admit although I have grown many plants including bonsai, I am having difficulty with this plant. I am sure it is due to incorrect watering. I have adjusted the position and watering schedule and it is now putting off flowers but I noticed black areas which appear dry. The base of the trunk did turn yellow but now that seems to be diminishing. My question is....should I cut off the darkened areas? I have read that sometimes the plants will heal themselves.
AnswerRobin,
I believe that your problem was either a fungal problem or sunburn but that your plant is okay now. aAll you have is these small dry black areas. You can read more about this at the following website: http://www.tropicanursery.com/adenium/problems.htm#diseases
If it were my plant I would not cut it off. I might try scraping it with the edge of a knife and see if I could scrape it off. It appears to me that it has already healed itself and it is such small spots, I assume that you sent the picture of the largest one, that I really wouldn't worry about it. If you have more questions after reading that website feel free to write again. Good luck.
