QuestionHi! I'm going on a 4 week vacation this summer. I have many house plants, like succulents, christmas cacti, yuccas, bamboo, and palmedos. I do not have anyone who can water my plants while I'm gone. Surely you've been on vacation before. I was wondering if you could give me some tips or a way that my plants could get water and survive while I'm gone? I don't know what to do and I don't want my plants to die.
AnswerVictor,
Yes, Victor, when I go on vacation I have a friend who lives nearby water my plants and i always buy her a nice gift from where I went on vacation. If you were only going to be gone 1 or 2 weeks you could water each plant well and put it in a plastic bag which would keep it humid but in 4 weeks they would either be too dry or suffocate or mold. Your succulents might be okay if you just water them well before you leave but your bamboo will be dead and probably some of your other plants. I suggest that you call several floral shops nearby and ask if they have plant care services. See if they will send someone out to water your plants once a week while you are gone. Ask what each would charge for that service. If you start talking to your friends you may find someone with the same love of plants that you have and you never realized it before. They might be happy to help you out. Or one of your neighbors may have a teenaged daughter that would love to make a little extra money by watering your plants for you, just knock on doors and ask. Expect to pay for some help or for a . Don't just leave and expect your plants to be fine with no care while you are gone. Good luck.
